LoginI love exploring new fibers and yarns, so I most often begin a new project by falling in love with a yarn before looking for a pattern to go with it. Sitting down with a new skein, trying a few needle sizes, and then mulling over which I like best is a joy. Especially when it comes to accessories such as socks, mitts, and hats, I prefer choosing the needle size and gauge that create the right fabric, rather than knitting more tightly or loosely to suit pattern instructions.
When we are working with small-batch yarns or interesting fibers, the knitted gauge we like best might not fit neatly into common pattern requirements. A great solution is to use pattern recipes like those in this eBook. These recipes are designed to allow the knitter to adjust the instructions to suit the yarn as well as finetune the finished size. Knitwear designer and technical editor Sandi Rosner created all three of the recipes in this eBook to give you control over your knitting!
