About This Pattern

This triangular scarf reminds me of a clear forest creek streaming over small pebbles, making the water movement playfully changing. As you knit from one narrow tip to the other with gradual increases and decreases, your stitches will flow through traveling cables and eyelets. This uncommon mesh lace is combined with a series of two-stitch and three-stitch cables.

This shape and construction of the scarf attract me because it could be worn so many ways: tucked or tied around your neck, draped over your shoulders, or even wrapped around your head as a kerchief.

Materials

YARN Blue Sky Fibers Organic Cotton Sport (100% certified organic cotton; 136 yd [124 m]/13/4 oz [50 g]; sportweight): #236 Jasper, 2 skeins (*see Note).

NEEDLES Size 4 (3.5 mm). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

NOTIONS Markers (m); cable needle (cn); tapestry needle.

GAUGE 21 sts and 26 rows = 4" (10 cm) in Mesh patt.

FINISHED SIZE 72" (183 cm) long and 10" (25.5 cm) wide at center point.

*Note: Nadia used all of two skeins of yarn for the scarflette shown. Consider purchasing an extra skein as insurance. Exact gauge is not critical for this project, but it could change the amount of yardage you need.

About: Nadya Stallings lives and designs knitwear in her tiny workshop in northeast Ohio. She has been publishing her work since 2009, but she had been creating her own designs for many years before that. She is a wife, a mother, and a grandmother. Nadya likes her little hands to be constantly occupied with knitting, sewing, occasionally crocheting, watercoloring, gardening, playing piano (when it’s well tuned), and cooking, not necessarily in this order. Her mind is hungry to listen to audio books and learn something new in any activity she is involved in.
