Galaz Jumper

With a single bold cable stretching from neck to cuff, this fun pullover allows a tweed or heather yarn to shine.

As I began sketching this design, I knew that I wanted to use Peace Fleece. This special yarn combines finewool grown on the Navajo Nation with other domestic wool and mohair, which is spun into a lofty woolen yarn at Harrisville Designs. The heathered colors create complexity even in smooth stockinette.

Materials

YARN Peace Fleece DK (50% Navajo Rambouillet, 30% domestic fine wool, 20% mohair; 175 yd [160 m]/ 1¾ oz [50 g]; DK weight): Kamchatka Sea Moss, 6 (7, 8, 8, 9) (10, 10, 11, 12) skeins.

NEEDLES Sizes 6 (4 mm) and 7 (4.5 mm): 24"–32" (60–80 cm) circular (cir) and set of double-pointed (dpn). Size 6 (4 mm): 16" (40 cm) cir. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

NOTIONS Markers (m); cable needle (cn); stitch holders; tapestry needle.

GAUGE 18 sts and 25 rnds = 4" (10 cm) in St st on larger needle. 16 sts of Cable patt = 2¾" (7 cm) wide.

FINISHED SIZE 33¼ (37¼, 41¼, 45¼, 49¼) (53¼, 57¼, 61¼, 65¼)" (84.5 [94.5, 105, 115, 125] [135.5, 145.5, 155.5, 165.5] cm) bust circumference. Pullover shown measures 37¼" (94.5 cm); modeled with 3¼" (8.5 cm) of ease.
