About This Pattern

Sampler is a term that has been used since at least the sixteenth century to describe textiles that gather various stitches and skills into one finished piece. Many museum collections have scarf-like objects that change to a different stitch pattern every few inches—a personal stitch dictionary!

This large wrap sampler includes some of the best-loved traditional Irish and British knitting motifs: classic Aran cables, Shetland lace, and traditional fishing gansey motifs. They all work together beautifully, and whether you are new to this type of knitting or a seasoned pro, it will keep you interested as you work these classic stitches.
