Grab your knitting and join us for the first Farm & Fiber Knits knit-along (KAL). We’ll be making the Clover Ridge Cowl to celebrate the launch of our new video series, A Twist on Color: Knitting Self-Striping & Marled Yarns.
When does the KAL start?
On April 16 at 6 pm ET, join us for our kickoff as designer Jenny Monteleone and editor Kate Larson walk you through the pattern and demonstrate several techniques, including an Estonian-inspired inlay motif. This pattern has several great techniques to explore in addition to playing with color in a new way. This isn’t stranded colorwork! Join us for this live stream event on YouTube and Facebook.
We know you have questions about how the KAL will work, including the Help Sessions, so we’ve gathered some frequently asked questions.

What is the KAL schedule?
Our first welcome session was held April 2, 2025, with designer Jenny Monteleone and editor Kate Larson; the recording is available on YouTube. The KAL Kickoff will be held April 16, 2025, at 6 pm ET. We will live stream this session on YouTube and Facebook, and we plan to record and post this session on YouTube if you can’t join during the live event. If you plan to join us and want to jump right into the project, see “What should I have ready before the Kickoff?” below.
Schedule (All events start at 6 pm ET):
- April 2, 2025 – Welcome and Palette Discussion with Jenny and Kate. Recorded Here
- April 16, 2025 – Kickoff: How-to and Tips with Jenny and Kate. Join on YouTube or Facebook
- April 23, 2025 – Help Session and Hangout. Register Here
- April 30, 2025 – Help Session and Hangout. Register Here
- May 14, 2025 – Wrap Up Show & Share. (Links to Come)
Who can join? Where do I get the pattern?
Anyone is welcome to join the KAL sessions! If you are on the Farm & Fiber Knits email newsletter list, you’ll receive updates regarding the sessions.
The Clover Ridge Cowl pattern is available in the Farm & Fiber Knits library for members to download. If you are not a member yet, you can subscribe here. (The monthly subscription fee is less than many individual knitting patterns, so we hope you’ll join us!)
Are the sessions interactive? Can I ask questions?
The first two live stream events are more structured, allowing Jenny and Kate to share techniques and tips, and knitters may submit questions during the live stream. The Help Sessions are held via Zoom and allow Kate to interact with as many of the participants as possible. To better ensure your question is answered, email [email protected] before the session. Register for the Help Sessions using the links in the schedule above.
How do I join?
You are welcome to join us even if you missed the first session or two! For the live-stream events, simply watch on YouTube or Facebook, and feel free to add your comments or questions in the chat box! To join the Zoom Help Sessions, register using the links in the schedule above.
Do I have to finish my project by the end date? What if I can’t keep up?
No problem! Our goal is for you to have fun and, hopefully, learn some new techniques. Everyone is welcome to join us for all sessions, including the Show and Share at the end. We’d love to see your project even if it is still on the needles!
What if I have questions, but I’m not comfortable asking them in a live Help Session?
Reach out to us at any time via email—[email protected]. We’re happy to help!
What yarn can I use?
Jenny’s original design uses two yarns from Feederbrook Farm—Entropy DK and Equilibrium DK. However, you can use any yarn you like—there are no rules! Kate began her first Clover Ridge Cowl using Targhee in two natural, undyed shades, which you can see here.
What should I have ready before the Kickoff on April 16th?
- Select your yarns and wind them into center-pull balls.
- Members can download the pattern PDF. If printing, make sure to print the charts in color.
- Cast on using a provisional crochet method. We have a tutorial here. Once you have cast on, knit one round.
See you at the Kickoff!
