Christine McGovern learned to knit at age eight. She spent her career as a high school English teacher and administrator and taught her students to knit while reading Charles Dickens’s A Tale of Two Cities. Now retired, she enjoys teaching knitting at a local hospital and at N Street Village, a provider supporting women experiencing homelessness in Washington, D.C. She lives with her attorney husband in Bethesda, Maryland, and enjoys helping out with her five grandchildren.
Sharing knitting one hospital waiting room at a time, this Project Knitwell volunteer offers more than a new skill, creating moments of connection, comfort, and so much more.
