As the days shorten and sweater weather arrives here in the northern hemisphere, we are beginning to plan great Farm & Fiber Knits content for Fall 2026. Our print/digital issues are packed with articles and patterns that connect readers with the landscapes, animals, and people who create our fiber from the ground up.

Harvest: Fall 2026

We’re looking for saturated colors and neutrals, garments that carry you from sunny fall afternoons to crisp winter mornings, and staples you’ll reach for every day. Imagine the cardigan you’ll wear for apple picking, the scarf for cool morning walks, the mitts to hold a cup of steaming cocoa, and the wrap you always wear when headed out the door.

Our feature articles often have companion projects. The Fall 2025 issue included an article about the history of Peace Fleece yarns, and Tressa Weidenaar’s Rancher’s Cowl put Peace Fleeces’s yarn to perfect use. Photo by Gale Zucker

Pattern Collection

We love thoughtfully designed knitwear that makers will reach for again and again. Our projects cover a wide range of skill levels: carefully crafted basics, classics with modern finishes, and more challenging projects that highlight the beauty of natural fibers. We strive to include interesting techniques for knitters, and our touchstone is always natural fibers.

We want to hear your ideas for our Fall issue! Accessories, garments graded for a wide range of body types, and cozy knits for the home are all welcome! Check out our library for our previously published designs, and see our fall vibe Pinterest board for color and mood inspiration.

For nearly as long as Kate has been handspinning and knitting, she has been helping others find their paths as makers and forge deeper connections with the landscapes that produce the wool and cotton, flax, and silk that they hold in their hands. While Kate has published a book, many articles and patterns, and several instructional videos, she especially loves celebrating the work of other fiber folks. The editor of Spin Off from 2018–2025, she directs spinning events in addition to editing Farm & Fiber Knits. If you can’t find Kate, she’s most likely in the barn having a chat with her beloved Border Leicester sheep.
