As spring shifts to summer, I’m wishing—as usual—that I had started knitting a new warm-weather tee weeks ago. You, too? As we kick-off our Summer 2027 issue, I’d love to hear your ideas! What do you think natural-fiber knitters want to cast on as summer descends?

Flourish: Summer 2027

Summer is a great time to explore new fibers and new techniques in smaller projects that keep pace with our creativity. I’m excited about the “Flourish” theme for this issue because it is both a noun and a verb! It can be a little extra embellishment—colorwork, embroidery, lace—or it can be a statement of health. Knitting each and every day keeps me grounded, blooming where I’m planted, and flourishing in as many ways as I can muster. I hope you’ll join me in spreading the joy! Here are a few projects we’d love to see:

  • Short-sleeved and sleeveless tops that can be worked in a range of blends to keep us wearing handknits all year long.

  • Great lightweight layers for cool evenings and cold offices alike.

  • Socks that keep us engaged on a roadtrip or when sitting in waiting rooms.

  • Shawls, wraps, and cowls that are as fun to knit as they are to wear.

  • Great designs for the natural fibers that keep us cool: cotton, silk, hemp, linen, and more!

Articles and Tutorials

Every issue of Farm & Fiber Knits includes articles that celebrate the animals, makers, and cultures around the world that keep us knitting and inspired. Tell us about the mills, knitting traditions, flocks, and more that you think our readers would love to learn about.

Are there tips or techniques that knitters would be delighted to learn? Our readers love thoughtful tips and modern tutorials. What do you think more knitters should add to their technique toolboxes?
