Laurel Stone, the shepherdess behind Apple Creek Merinos, has enjoyed a lifelong fascination with sheep, wool, and fiber arts. She has been raising a flock of white and natural-colored Merinos near Eugene, Oregon since 2012. She enjoys bringing her sheep, fleeces, and farm products to local fiber festivals such as the Black Sheep Gathering and Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival, as well as competing at the national level. A self-proclaimed “wool evangelist,” she volunteers as a committee member for multiple fiber festivals and is working with a small team to organize the 2029 World Congress on Colored Sheep.
