This top-down Roundabout Shawl, by Jennifer Miller Comstock, can be worked successfully as a scarf or wrap if you have a smaller yarn quantity. The shape lends itself well to self-striping or gradient yarns and would be fun as a stash-busting project! Photo by Matt Graves

One of my favorite things about scarves and shawls is how perfectly they fit every season of the year. I love having a light wrap for summer evenings at our local outdoor theater and a cozy cowl to tuck into my parka for the downtown holiday lighting ceremony. No matter the season, I can always find a pattern that seems like just the right fit.

Every wardrobe needs a shawl. It can elevate any outfit, whether you’re dressing up or keeping things casual. And it’s not just knitters who adore them. All of us here at Long Thread Media enjoy featuring shawls and scarves in our work, so we teamed up to create this bonus eBook just for subscribers. I’m thrilled to share A Celebration of Scarves and Shawls with you. Inside, you’ll find favorite designs from Farm & Fiber Knits, Handwoven, Easy Weaving with Little Looms, Spin Off, and PieceWork—in a mix of techniques and styles that offer something for every fiber lover.

You’ll also find two helpful articles designed to take the guesswork out of sizing your projects. Madelyn van der Hoogt walks us through what to consider when choosing scarf length, depending on how it’s wrapped and the purpose it serves. And Katrina King highlights the various styles of scarves and cowls, and then breaks down the most common dimensions for each.

The Ancient Earth Shawl, by Kim McKenna, is a versatile pattern. This elegantly simple triangle shawl can be knitted using a wide variety of farm yarns, but its smooth stockinette-stitch body is ideal for showing off complex variegated, semisolid blends. Photo by Matt Graves

This is our most expansive scarf and shawl collection yet, bringing together projects from all your favorite Long Thread Media magazines. From gorgeous knitting designs and a silk scarf perfect for embroidery, to a clever crocheted cowl and weaving patterns for both multi-shaft and small looms, there’s inspiration on every page. Whether you’re craving breezy summer lace or warm winter wool, this eBook is your go-to guide for crafting beautiful wraps year-round.

Happy knitting!
